Reached at the height of stardom from her role as Samantha Carter in the Canadian-American military science fiction television series Stargate SG-1, Amanda Tapping is the famous and talented Canadian actress. Her charismatic personality has given her a high number of diehard fans. She is beautiful, talented, and passionate towards her work. Tapping is a superstar in all its sense.

Amanda Tapping was born on August 28, 1965 in England. She moved to Canada when she was only three years old. She was enrolled in North Toronto Collegiate Institute. She studied Environmental Science and Drama and excelled in both. However, since a very young age, Tapping had inkling towards acting and she attended the University of Windsor, School of Dramatic Arts, to focus her attention on Drama.

Tapping started doing stage production, while continuing her education, including Children of a Lesser God, Lion in Winter, and Steel Magnolias. After her graduation she studied Theatrical Arts. Meanwhile, Tapping appeared on some television commercials. She formed a comedy troupe, with two of her friends, Katherine Jackson and Anne Marie Kerr, called Random Act. The troupe used to perform comedy sketches at different venues in Toronto and other surrounding areas. The troupe disbanded when the women were caught up with their own lives.

By the time Tapping’s troupe was disbanded, Tapping had had few roles in television and film productions. She appeared on the movies, Golden Will: The Silken Laumann Story, Remembrance, and Rent-a-Kid. Her television series included, Flash Forward, Due South, and The X-Files. The first breakthrough for Tapping was her role in Stargate SG-1 as Samantha Carter, which went on air in 1997. Tapping played the role for 11 years and the television series received massive praise across the world. She also worked in the other series of the franchise as well including Stargate Atlantis, Stargate: The Ark of Truth, and Stargate: Continuum.

Tapping, subsequently, diverted her attention on another Sci-Fi show, Sanctuary, which appeared on SyFy. She played the lead role in Sanctuary as Dr. Helen Magnus. The show was not initially launched as a television series however it was a web series. The spectacular acting of the leads and gripping storyline made the show a big hit and this web series was then telecast on TV and became a long-run television series. Tapping also appeared in the eighth season of hit sci-fi T.V. series Supernatural as an angel Naomi.

After turning out successful as an actor, Tapping has also played her cards for directing and producing. When she was working on Stargate SG-1, she has shot a couple of episodes, this boosted her confidence and she shot few episodes of Sanctuary too. Moreover, Tapping was also juggling between the role of lead actor and executive producer of Sanctuary.

Tapping has also successfully been running a charity for the children suffering in the crisis around the world. Tapping has named the organization, Sanctuary for Kids. The organization established in 2009 has been running smoothly up till now with huge amount of donations given by the fans. Recently, the organization took part in rehabilitating the Nepali’s children after the massive earthquake shattered Nepal.

On the note to her personal side, Amanda Tapping is living happily and contented with her husband Alan Kovacs and adorable daughter Olivia in Vancouver.
