The popular stuntwoman and actress, Christina Allen Cox was born on July 31, 1971 in Toronto, Ontario. She first acted in a school play when she was only three years and that kindled in her the desire to pursue acting seriously. Growing up Cox was an ardent fan of gymnastics and competed in taekwondo and track and field. Alongside this, she is skilled in kickboxing and fencing. She received training in period weaponry, firearms and stage combat. When she was in high school, she aspired to become a famous Olympic gymnast. However, her passion for acting and theatre surpassed that and she focused on making a career for herself as an actress. She enrolled herself in the Arts York at Unionville High School where she studied drama and dance and later attended the Ryerson Theatre School of Toronto for two years, where she continued her theatre studies.

She has appeared in multiple stage and theatre productions such as Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” and Jim Cartwright’s “Road”. She made her television debut in 1992, when she appeared in the series, “Forever Knight” in a guest role. Her debut in movies came two years later when she appeared in the horror movie, “Spike of Love”.  She had an advantage because of her training in gymnastics and firearms and much of her early work showcased that talent.

It was during this time that Cox moved to Los Angeles and continued doing guest appearances in shows such as “The Chris Isaak Show”, “She Spies” and “Andromeda”. However, her big break came in 1999 when she was offered the lead role as Kim, in the movie, “Better than Chocolate”.  The film bagged several awards at film festivals and became a popular hit in Canada.  She was offered her first regular role in the television series, “F/X: The Series” where she played the role of Angie Ramirez. Her work earned her a nomination at the Gemini Awards.

In 2004, Christina Cox was offered the most important role in her acting career in the movie, “The Chronicles of Riddick” where she starred opposite to Vin Diesel, portraying the role of Eve Logan.  Also in 2004, she co-created and helped to develop the script for “Nikki and Nora”. In 2007, she was offered a regular role in the television series, “Blood Ties” where she played the lead role of Victoria Nelson who is a former policewoman turned private investigator, forced to retire because of her failing vision. Apart from acting, she has also done numerous stunts in movies such as the “Million Dollar Baby”.

In 2009, she joined the cast of “Defying Gravity”, playing the role of an astrobiologist named Jen Crane, who has been assigned on a six- year long mission in space. In 2006, she appeared in the television show, “Dexter” as Zoey Kruger who is accused of murdering her family and in 2008, she was seen in the television show, “The Mentalist”. Apart from this she has appeared in numerous other television shows such as “24” where she played the role of Molly O’Conner in 2001, “The Stepson” and “NCIS: Freedom” in 2011.

Some of her recent work includes appearing in the show, “Combat Hospital” in 2011 opposite to Elias Koteas and Deborah Unger.  Christina Cox is married to Grant Mattos and the couple lives in Los Angeles.
