Kristin Kreuk is a Canadian who has enjoyed a lucrative career in not only the film industry, but also as a television personality and high profile model. She is most well known for her portrayal of Lana Lang in The CW superhero drama, Smallville. She currently plays the role of Catherine Chandler in The CW series, Beauty & the Beast.

Born on December 30, 1982 to Peter Kreuk and Deanna Che in Vancouver, British Columbia, Kreuk is the oldest out of two sisters. She competed in sports like Karate and gymnastics on a national level, but had to stop in grade 11 due to scoliosis. While initially looking to study forensic science or psychology at Simon Fraser University, Kreuk completely changed her plans when she was contacted for the CBC television series, Edgemont.

Being cast into Edgemont propelled Kreuk into the world of television acting in a quick succession and opened up various opportunities for her. Soon after finishing the first season, she was successful in landing the lead role in the television movie, Snow White: The Fairest of Them All (2001) which was then followed by Legend of Earthsea in 2004. Subsequently, she was offered a core character spot on The CW (formerly the WB network) drama Smallville, for the role of Lana Lang. This placed Kreuk in the position where she was appearing simultaneously in two high profile shows at the time, Edgemont and Smallville. Eventually, Edgemont ended in 2005 and so did Smallville in 2008. Following this, she appeared in the third season of Chuck in 2009 and in the television movie Ben Hur in 2010. Since 2012, she has been playing the role of Catherine Chandler in The CW reboot of Beauty & the Beast.

Kristin Kreuk has also enjoyed a successful career in the film industry appearing in numerous films like EuroTrip (2004), Dream Princess (2006), Partition (2007). While all of these films did favorably well at the box office, they did not bring any particular praise or recognition towards Kreuk’s way. Kreuk finally had her big break on the international screen when she was cast as a lead actor in Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009), to play as the titular character. Sadly, despite all the hype the movie was a commercial failure with many critics specifically singling out Kreuk’s rigid acting, performance and her overall disconnection from the film despite being the lead role. She continued to appear in many other production, namely Vampire (2010) and Irvine Welsh’s Ecstasy (2011). Kreuk has also enjoyed the privilege of working in film production with the company Parvati Creative Inc, which she co-founded with Rosena Bhura whom she met on the set of Partition. The company focuses on producing films that embody the spirit of acting and looks at the world through the eyes of a female. The first two productions, Blink (a short movie) and Queenie (a comedy web series), saw Kreuk work as an executive producer. Kreuk is also the spokesperson for the commercial derma-logical company, Neutrogena.

She resides in Toronto, where the shooting of Beauty & the Beast is currently taking place, while also owning a home in Los Angeles. As of 2010, Kristin Kreuk is known to be dating fellow Canadian actor and musician, Mark Hildreth and owns her Los Angeles home with him.
