Known for her classic good looks and upbeat personality, the perky blonde actress Rachel Louise Blanchard was born on March 19, 1976 in Toronto, Ontario. She did her early schooling from Humbercrest Junior Public School in Toronto and completed her high school from the all-girls school, Havergal College. She then enrolled herself in Queen’s University where she was majoring in psychology. However, she soon dropped out in order to pursue her acting career.

Rachel Blanchard’s acting career started at a very early age when she was offered to appear in a commercial for McDonald’s. When she was only eight years old, she became the part of a popular Canadian television show for children, titled, “The Kids of Degrassi Street” where she played the character of Melanie Schlegal. Apart from this she has appeared in numerous other television shows such as, “Are you Afraid of the Dark?” as Kristen, “Flight of the Conchords” as Sally, “War of the Worlds” where she played the role of Suzanne McCullough’s daughter, Debi and “The Littlest Hobo”. However the turning point in her career came when in 1996, she was offered the lead role, as “Cher Horowitz”, in the television series, “Clueless” which was loosely based on the movie, “Clueless” released in 1995. Since the theme revolved around the dynamics of high school, Blanchard visited several high schools in Los Angeles to observe the atmosphere and was shocked to find the similarities portrayed in the show and that in real life.

In 1992, she made her transition from television to film when she was offered a role in the coming of age movie, “On My Own”. This brought Rachel Blanchard to the spotlight and soon she had offers to do mainstream movies, lined up. In 2000, she appeared in the movie, “The Rage: Carrie 2” in which she played the part of a popular teen drama queen who torment the supernaturally gifted protagonist. The same year in 2000, she appeared in the teen comedy movie, “Road Trip” where she played Breckin Meyer’s girlfriend.

In 2001, she starred in a somewhat controversial movie, “Sugar and Spice” which was a black comedy that featured around a pack of high school cheerleaders who plan a robbery to secure the financial future of the unborn child of their friend. Apart from this, she has starred in numerous other movies such as “Where the Truth Lies”, “Adoration”, “Growing up”, “Without a Paddle” and “Comeback Season”.

Apart from her work in movies and television, Rachel Blanchard has also appeared in the music video by Maroon 5, for the song, “Sunday Morning”. She has received critical acclamation for her work in the television show, “Peep Show”, where she played the role of the main character’s girlfriend, Nancy. In 1993, she earned herself a nomination at the Young Artist Awards for “Outstanding Performers in a Children’s Program” and in 2007, she was nominated for the Golden Nymph award for “Outstanding Actress” in a Comedy Series. In 2011, she won a Gemini Award for “Best Performance in a Guest Role” for the series, “Call me Fitz”.

Some of her recent works include movies like “Scrapper” and “Mad Ship” in 2013. In her personal life she enjoys hockey and rock climbing. She got married to Adrian Brown and the couple has a daughter named Katie.
